![]() ![]() Apparently, the dk05.cfg file was concocted as a result of the fact that dk05 had a sluggish computer and wanted to run CoD4 with as high a frame-rate as possible. spoke to this IW employee this week and we asked him about his now famous configuration. After all, yitch1 was made by ostensibly copying and moderately tweaking a configuration made for slow computer systems that was included in the CoD4 DVD by an IW staffer known as dk05. Games from 2000-2001 would be the sweet spot.In retrospect, coming up with yitch1.cfg and yitch2.cfg CoD4 multiplayer config files was relatively easy. There are loads of games you could enjoy on the mirage 3 but anything recent is a big no no. Whereas the intel X3100 is about 7-8 times faster then mirage 3 in some games.I mean 2 frames per second in Quake IV at 1024x768 low settings, how is that even possible for any card made in the past 5-6 years? To be honest going from the benchmarks they really dropped the ball with the mirage 3, the mirage 2 was pretty crap but it wasn't anywhere near as crap relatively speaking in relation to other cards of the time and it was better then the intel equivilent. 46fps in Quake III at 1024x768 resolution is shocking, considering the game is almost a decade old.Įven Call of Duty original would struggle on the Mirage 3 on anything other then low-ish settings.I reckon the best you'd get out of it on higher settings would be games like Unreal Tournament, Half Life, that sort of thing. Check out a review here, 340% slower then a 6200 Turbocache model, which in itself is miles below the minimum requirements for COD4 at low settings! Going by those benchmarks, it performs about the same as a TNT2 from the year 1999. Mirage 3 is a disaster performance wise, infinitely slower then the Intel X3100 even - which is known for its lacklustre performance. ![]()
